Room Is Really Hot All The Time?

Well ever since we moved into my house 9 years ago my room is always super hot in the summertime. Every morning i wake up and i am sweating so bad i have to go downstairs and get some sleep because i have a hard time sleeping in my room at night because it is so warm. My house is rather large and has a huge air conditioner. But still no such luck. I have my ceiling fan and a box fan going at night but its still warm. I have run out of ideas and my parents wont do anything about it. My dad has also checked for leaking in the ventilation but there is nothing. I can feel the air coming out of my vent but it doesnt change the temperature. Even when its cooler out and i have my window and sliding door open its still warm. What do I do? If something doesnt change i am going to end up sleeping downstairs for the rest of the summer. Please help!

I have ran hundreds of calls in two story homes with the same exact complaint in the hottest months of the year. The upstairs will always be warmer than the downstairs is the complaint. What they all have in common is only one air conditioner for the entire house.
A two story home needs a dedicated unit for the upstairs and a dedicated unit for the downstairs for total comfort.

  • Is high humidity (combined with above comfort temperature) possibly the problem?
Sleep is certainly more difficult then, and the fans won’t help much because the air is already laden with moisture.

the attic space needs a ventilation fan. the heat in the attic is migrating down into the second floor

Sounds like you are at the end of the line when it comes to the duct work and you are probably far away from the thermostat too. - Is the thermostat downstairs and your bedroom upstairs?
If the ducts are poorly insulated you may not be getting cold air to your room.
If there are a lot of other registers pulling off the main duct before it gets to your room you may not be getting much air flow in there.
Are there rooms in your house that aren’t used very often (guest bedrooms)? Close down some of the registers in other rooms of the house and see if that gets you more cool air in your bedroom….and make sure your registers are wide open.
Sleep with your door open too. It will help equalize the temperature.
